POSITION DETAILS Helendale School District is seeking a qualified individual for a full-time Payroll position. Under general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent/CBO, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for coordinating, delegating, performing and leading all responsible accounting and clerical work in connection with both Certificated and Classified school district payrolls, benefits and other related areas, including taxes and insurances; ensure work is completed accurately, timely and professionally; perform other job related duties as required. The position provides personnel with assistance and guidance regarding District payroll policies, rules, regulations, and procedures. The district encompasses the Academy of Careers and Exploration, Helendale Elementary, Independence Charter Academy, and Riverview Middle School, catering to grades Transitional Kindergarten through 12th grade. The district also oversees four independent charter schools that are within San Bernardino County or adjoining counties.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade, supplemented by courses in typing, business correspondence, bookkeeping and office methods Experience: One (1) year paid, full time employment and/or experience in the preparation and maintenance of financial or statistical records involving payroll, preferred Knowledge of: Modern methods and practices in financial record keeping; operation of modern office methods, procedures and machinery, including computers, spreadsheets, and word processing. Knowledge of Excel and Financial 2000 preferred Ability to: Perform clerical work without continuous supervision; make arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy; prepare clear and accurate financial summaries and reports; operate modern calculator and standard office machines, establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationship with others, train new team members; lead, inspire, and communicate effectively Skills: Typing; 50 wpm (adjusted for errors), passing score on written HSD Payroll exam
