POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Commandant, the job of Military Academy Teacher - Social Studies is done for the purpose(s) of providing a variety of individual and group instruction to students enrolled in the Riverside County Education Academy to ensure appropriate instruction as determined by California State Standards. The incumbent is responsible for developing and employing strategies to build honor, pride, self-discipline, and leadership in at-risk youth through positive behavior management. Please see job description for a list of job functions and minimum qualifications. The following documents are required upon hire: Valid CA Driver's License, Fingerprint Clearance, TB Clearance, Bachelor's Degree. REQUIRED ATTACHMENTS/DOCUMENTS A complete application must meet the criteria listed below and must have the following documentation attached prior to the position closing date: •Two letters of reference/recommendation (Must be dated withing the last 2 years) •Letter of introduction (Must specifically reference the position for which you have applied) •Current Resume •A valid California single subject credential with a Social Science authorization •Proof of military service (DD2114) (Candidates with military service) *Application must be filled out completely
EXPERIENCE: •NCLB compliant at the secondary level in Social Science or the ability to become compliant within one year of employment •Successful military service is preferred EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university is required. Master’s degree desired. CERTIFICATES/CREDENTIALS/LICENSES: •A valid California single subject credential with a Social Science authorization •California Education Specialist Mild Moderate Credential or valid California Learning Handicapped (preferred) •EL certification such as CLAD, BCLAD, or SDAIE. You must provide copies of permit/credential as required for position or provide evidence of qualifying for required permit/credential with your application materials to qualify for the position.
