Account Clerk I (Temporary)

 

 

The Institution:

The Los Rios Community College District is a two-year public college district serving the greater Sacramento region. Our district includes American River, Cosumnes River, Folsom Lake and Sacramento City colleges; major centers in Placerville, Davis, West Sacramento, downtown Sacramento, Natomas and Rancho Cordova; and special services for business and industry.

 

Our colleges offer transfer education - students complete freshman and sophomore years and transfer to a four-year college or university - and AA/AS degrees and certificates in over 70 career fields. The District's 2400 square mile service area includes Sacramento and El Dorado counties and parts of Yolo, Placer, and Solano counties. Nearly 80,000 students are enrolled in our colleges.

 

The District office houses a number of district-wide services. These include the Chancellor's office, Board Room, Legal Services, Business Services, Human Resources, Institutional Research, Resource Development and Information Technology. Other district wide services which can be found at various locations around the community are the District Police Department, Facilities Maintenance Department and the Business and Economic Development Center. Each department strives for the highest quality in all program, services, and activities for our communities and staff.

 

 

Position Summary:

This is a temporary, classified position limited to 110 days per fiscal year, assigned to work at the LRCCD, District Office, 1919 Spanos Court, Sacramento.

Additional Position Summary:

Incumbents, under general supervision, perform a variety of duties involving cashiering and financial and statistical record keeping. Duties may vary based on assigned department. (Please see the "Job Descriptions" link on the left side of your screen for a complete job description for this position.)

 

 

Responsibilities:

Prepares change funds for revolving fund operations. Complies with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations. Debits or credits accounts. Evaluates records for accuracy of balances, postings, calculations, and other records pertaining to business or operating transactions, and reconciles or notes discrepancies. Inputs and receives data from data processing system. Uses a variety of computer accounting and office software programs to perform required tasks. Compiles reports and tables to show statistics related to cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profit and loss. Prepares bank deposits and reconciles cash register tapes. Enters financial transactions and other account information to update and maintain accounting records. Serves as counter receptionist providing general information on college activities and answers students' questions using databases and District's website. Performs basic financial calculations such as amounts due, balances, discounts, equity, and principal. Reviews data for accuracy and completeness and reconciles discrepancies. Issues and accounts for keys to secured areas. Prepares daily cash reports and accounts payable for bookstore using accounting programs and retail reports. Processes incoming invoices by checking extensions, discounts and tax. Receives control figures and balances output data to control figures. Verifies balances and entries, calculations, and postings recorded by other workers. Processes negotiable instruments such as checks and vouchers. Prepares financial aid and student loan checks for distribution. Performs financial calculations including calculations for student installment payment plans. Performs related duties as required.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE: One year of financial recordkeeping experience; OR, one year of experience in Los Rios CCD performing clerical duties at the level of a Clerk II or Admissions/Records Clerk I.

 

Have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. 

 

(Experience Requirement: one year of experience is equal to 12 months of experience at a maximum of 40 hours per week. Education Requirement: 12 units are equal to six months of education; 24 units are equal to one year of education.)

Conditions:

All Positions: Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful clearance from a criminal background check, freedom from tuberculosis, and proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States prior to the first day of work. The District may select additional qualified candidates should unexpected vacancies or needs occur during this recruitment/selection process. When education is a requirement for the position, official academic transcripts from the accredited college/university must be submitted within 60 days of hire.

 

Administrative/Executive/Faculty Positions: Contingent on funding and eligibility, successful candidates selected for an interview may be eligible to apply for partial reimbursement of travel expenses.

 

Administrative/Executive Positions: Administrative positions may be subject to the District's Conflict of Interest Code, and a statement of economic interest is required within thirty (30) days following appointment to the position. Management/Executive positions are exempt from overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

 

 

Work Schedule:

Work hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Work days: Monday - Friday (flexible)
