The Program Specialist Special Education provides support and assistance to special education teachers and to school site administrators in the delivery and management of special education programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Appropriate Administrative Services Credential REQUIRED
• Appropriate Special Education Credential REQUIRED
• Post graduate work in special education, school administration, curriculum and instruction, or a related field
• Successful experience as a classroom teacher in a special education setting
• Progressively responsible experience in providing leadership in a school or district setting
• Training or experience in conflict resolution and group facilitation
• Bilingual Spanish is an asset, but not required.
• Experience monitoring students in Non-Public Schools and Mental Health Programs is an asset.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: No individual shall be permitted to begin employment until the Department of Justice has ascertained that the individual has not been convicted of a sex offense as defined by Education Code section 44010, a controlled substance offense as defined Education Code section 44011, or a serious or violent felony as defined in Penal Code sections 667.5(c) & 1192.7(c).
