FOOD SERVICE WORKER I DEFINITION Assists in serving food in the Food Services Division and performs necessary cleaning duties. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Assists in serving on the line and self-serve bars, Cleans and prepares fruits and vegetables and other foods for cooking; assist in preparing all menu items; serves students and staff; loads and operates dishwasher; cleans ovens and mechanical equipment, washes pots, pans and kitchen utensils and areas; wipes table, shelves, etc. maintains Cafeteria area in a clean and sanitary condition; stores food; operates a variety of equipment; collects money from students and staff; operates Mealtime (Lunch program) computer; updates accounts. Performs related duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School diploma or equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (GED) Experience: Previous experience working in food services. Other: Must possess a valid California Driver's License. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: Equipment and materials to be used in serving food and cleaning; and Kitchen sanitation and safety measures. Ability to: Work efficiently and effectively in performing tasks; Understand and carry out written and oral instructions in English; and Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
