River Islands Academies is a Public Charter Organization that opened in August 2014 in Lathrop, California. Our motto is “College Bound.” It is our intent, and the expectation of the community, that we provide an outstanding, effective, high quality educational program where every student is known and valued as an individual.

We are looking for teachers who are:

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Creates and maintains an effective learning environment for students

    2. Establishes a culture of high expectations

    3. Engages and supports all students in learning by providing for a variety of

      ability levels, and educational/linguistic backgrounds and follows the classroom 

      teacher's plans

    4. Effectively plans lessons and learning experiences that align with the

      California Common Core Standards

    5. Identifies unique student needs and collaborates with team members and

      outside service providers to address and support learning challenges

    6. Develops as a professional educator by actively participating in staff

      development activities, and working closely with the principal and

      educational consultants

    7. Communicates effectively, and regularly, with students and parents about

      classroom activities and student progress if in the substitute position for a length

       of time

    8. Maintains accurate, thorough records of student attendance, achievement

      and behavioral performance 

    9. Assesses students for learning in accordance with teacher's plans and state

      requirements

    10. Maintains a standard of professional behavior and dress as an example to

      students

    11. Supports and abides by schools policies and procedures

    12. Collaborates with staff team members to improve their own and others’

      instructional practices

    13. Performs duties as requested, such as, yard supervision

      Special Requirements:

  1. Valid California driver’s license

  2. Maintain School-insurable driving record 

 

Requirements / Qualifications

One of the following: A 30 day Emergency Sub Teaching Permit, or a California Teaching Credential--Multiple Subject, Single subject, or Educational Special Educational Specialist. To qualify for a 30 day Emergency Teaching permit: BA/BS or higher from an accredited college or university (verified by an official transcript). Completion of the basic skills requirement (CBEST or Multiple Subject CSET) and completion of the appropriate Credentialing (CCTC) application 41-4. CBEST testing information is on line at www.cbest.nesinc.com. Teacher Permit for Statutory Leave, or TPSL Completion of the Livescan fingerprinting process for CCTC Payment of the required fees Go to www.sjcoe.net/subteacher.html for additional information. Teacher applicants need the following required materials: Letter of Introduction, Resume, Three Professional Letters of Recommendation, proof of BA, and/or copy of valid CA substitute permit or teaching credential.
