The Francophone Charter School of Oakland seeks experienced, dynamic and passionate instructors to lead enrichment activities during its BASC (before and after school care) program for students in Transitional Kindergarten through 4rdGrade. The program is located at the school, 9736 Lawlor Street in Oakland. The After School Instructor must be available from 3:00-6:00pm most school days and 12:45-6:00pm on Wednesdays and other early release days starting August 22, 2016. Applicants must be available for training the week of August 15, 2016. Position ranges from 12-18 hours a week. Pay is $15-20/hour and commensurate with education and experience. This position works directly with the Lunch and BASC Program Coordinator and the Executive Director.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise outdoor and indoor play.
- Collaborate with Lunch and BASC Program Coordinator and other staff to plan grade appropriate activities for your students in craft, music, athletics, etc. depending on your talents and interests!
- Provide a fun, safe and positive environment for kids during the after-school hours.
- We look for teachers who play actively with kids and demonstrate a genuine interest in individuals, engage little ones to play together well, and generally offer support.
- Help students with homework as needed.
- Communicate with teachers and parents, offer excellent customer service to families and help with setup at the beginning of the program and cleanup at the end of the day.
- Serve afternoon snack.
- Attend regular check-in meetings with afterschool staff.
- Other duties and responsibilities as determined.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent from another country.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Prior experience and a passion for working with young children.
- Experience in music, art, athletics or other preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Interest in following the school’s mission and philosophy, and participating in professional development around those.
- Fluency in French a plus.
- Be prepared for required background checks.
- CPR and First aid qualifications or willingness to train.
