1. A completed Application Form. (Please complete as instructed: do not complete by stating “see attached resume”.) The Application Form and Brochure may be downloaded at edjoin.org 2. A personal letter of application stating reasons for interest in the Plumas Unified School District superintendent position 3. A resume providing biographical background information about educational preparation, experience, and achievements 4. A placement file and/or five (5) current letters of professional references describing the applicant’s performance in previously held positions 5. It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit all required application papers and reference letters to meet the July 31 (5 p.m.) deadline.
The Board will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant. The Board will use the described criteria during the screening, interviewing and final decision-making process. The Board will select and interview the top candidates. The Board will then select and invite candidates for the final interviews, conduct the interviews and select the Superintendent. Any applicant who contacts a board member with the intent of influencing the board’s decision will be disqualified. Travel expenses for those candidates selected for the initial interview will be the responsibility of the candidate.

There are 12 schools (one special day preschool, four elementary schools, four high schools, one continuation high school, and two opportunity schools) in four well-defined communities. Each community has a clearly defined personality and identity that makes it unique. The school district has approximately 1,743 students. The school district is the largest employer in the County. Plumas County is one of California’s most scenic areas. Extending from the community of Chester in the north, which sits on the shores of beautiful Lake Almanor, to Portola in the east; Plumas County offers a high quality of life. Plumas County is recognized for its outstanding fishing, camping, water sports, golf, hiking and other recreational opportunities. The District Office is located in Quincy, which is 75 miles from Chico. Reno, Nevada is an easy 85 mile drive to the east. Compared to other areas in the state, housing costs are relatively low. The winters are mild for the Sierras as heavy snows occur occasionally, but seldom stay long. The position offers the unique opportunity to live where other people only dream about visiting on vacation.
