About the Employer

JCS was established in November 1999 (under a management organization) as a K-12 non-classroom based charter school. In 2000, the School, as a 501(c)(3) organization, incrementally began taking ownership of curriculum, instruction and assessment; finance, facilities, and business management; and organization, governance, and administration becoming a fully independent, direct funded, incorporated charter school by the 2002-2003 school year. From inception, the School was designed to meet the needs of students under served by traditional delivery systems of education or for families with a strong desire to home school. The School received an initial charter for two years and has had three additional five-year renewals.

Definition:
Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of duties to support the Director, teachers, students and other staff.

Duties:
The Teachers Aide will provide duties including but not limited to:
•Assist students in the classroom as instructed by the teachers
•Assist teachers with preparing curriculum for assignments
•Assist in the discipline of students
•Correspondences with parents, students, and staff
•Troubleshooting technical computer issues
•Recording student attendance
•Maintaining other student records and files
•Answering calls from office and forwarding messages
•Opening school for teachers and students
•Planning and organizing school events
•Assist administrator, teachers and office manager in coordinating student-related programs, issues and concerns
•Conducting industry research with various applications
•Completing special projects as assigned
•Other administrative duties as they arise

Distinguishing Characteristics:
This position is distinguished by the fact that it is assigned in a charter school environment, necessitating the recruitment of both students and staff; requires a considerable amount of independent judgment in solving work problems; requires the ability to multi-task with initiative and drive, and be able to work well with various personalities in a small business environment.

Education and Experience:
•Requires a high school diploma, and a minimum of three (1) year related administrative or educational experience.
•Knowledge in Microsoft Office applications, Internet, Outlook and familiarity with search engines.
