JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a Director of Admission and Outreach your role will be primarily be focused on increasing revenue and student growth for your learning centers. You will accomplish this by demonstrating excellent consultative sales skills - i.e. listening, empathizing, and making persuasive recommendations, as well as following up with every lead and inquiry. The successful director will be comfortable using computer programs like Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook to track leads and revenue performance as well as to publish sales goals and plans for each of her or his centers; as well as having the capability of learning how to use other software and tools that generate email campaigns, for example. You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills because you will be constantly talking to and writing prospective and current customers about Sylvan's programs and services. Finally, you must be a positive and professional person in your appearance and conduct because you will be the face of your learning centers and a natural leader of your team.
As the Director of Admissions and Outreach you will handle the majority of student inquiries and follow-up; however, you will manage a team of Assistant Directors, or Administrators, that will assist you in each location with regard to phone reception, business tracking and analysis, and the scheduling of appointments. Their job is to keep you busy talking to families and in the conference room enrolling new students. Therefore, the ideal candidate will be a talented and motivating sales person, but also a good team leader, trainer, and coach. Directors of Admissions and Outreach usually provide ongoing training and evaluation of their teammates with regard to sales and phone reception to ensure each parent receives an outstanding customer experience when they call or email a Sylvan Learning Center.
With respect to community outreach, the successfully director will publish a quarterly local marketing plan that includes a number of community events that either promote the Sylvan brand and/or generates new leads and awareness for Sylvan programs. Successful directors also generate leads for school and other educational contracts that can significantly increase the revenue potential for their learning centers.
In conclusion, we are looking for a Director of Admission and Outreach that can create and publish sales and outreach plans for their stores, conduct the majority of enrollments and follow-up for their stores, and lead and manage the front-office staff that primarily interact with our parents and customers.
As a successful Center Director/ Director of Enrollment, you should have:
- Solid CRM experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience conducting face to face consultative meetings and a natural enjoyment of that process.
- Strong working knowledge of computers - Microsoft Office, Internet, and Social Media
- Strong ability to build relationships
- Positive and persistent mindset with respect to lead generation and follow-up.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts, analyze/interpret business reports and statistics, and write reports and business correspondence.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Professionalism in your speech and appearance.
- You MUST uphold the highest ethical standards in your actions and example.
- Ability to work independently and use your boss as a mentor and coach - seeking help and guidance before problems get out of control or before goals are missed.
- Ability to be coached and trained. Directors will have veteran coaching and management available to them, but they MUST use it!
- A mission-driven individual. Education and running a center for kids has to be more than a "job." The ideal candidate will be intimately familiar, and perhaps has worked for, high-quality private schools or public schools where parents have high expectations for growth.
- A natural desire to take ownership and responsibility for your own results - even desiring to own your own Sylvan Learning Center someday. (It's about the mission of helping kids!)
- Multi-lingual candidates preferred (Spanish, Mandarin, Farsi, etc.)
- Someone who lives within a 25 minute commute to the South Bay or in the South Bay.
We require:
- A college degree
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, but particularly into the early evening (e.g. 7:30 pm) and at least 2 Saturdays per month.
- Individuals with some kind of sales, retail, banking, restaurant, and/or private school background that is intimately aware and sensitive to creating high-quality customer experiences.
- Ability to sell tuition financing (such as student loans).
- Ability to pass a background check and TB test
