DESCRIPTION: The School Psychologist coordinates and provides a program of psychological services to students in special education programs and direct service school districts. The School Psychologist works closely with all special education department heads.

QUALIFICATIONS: Valid California Pupil Personnel Services credential (or ability to obtain) with a School Psychologist authorization is required. Intern will be considered. Valid driver's license required.

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education

SALARY: $44,872 minimum to $97,568 maximum, depending on qualifications and experience, plus generous health and welfare package. Up to 7 years maximum service credit given.

WORK YEAR: 200 Days.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

1. Administers psychological tests and assessments to students as required.
2. Assesses students for initial placement and triennial reviews.
3. Monitors compliance issues and provides written reports.
4. Participates in IEP meetings, placement meetings, and staff development activities.
5. Provides consultation to parents and staff as needed.
6. Participates in staff meetings for program planning when requested.
7. Cooperates with social and public agencies who deal with students and their families.
8. Provides counseling for students as needed.
9. Assists in maintenance of accurate and current student records.
10. Identify at risk children and families and refer them to the proper agencies for services.
11. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

• School Psychologist duties and responsibilities
• Applicable State and Federal laws relating to general and special education
• Various forms of psychological tests and assessments

ABILITY TO:

• Administer and analyze psychological tests
• Communicate effectively in both written and oral form
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with County Office staff, school district staff, parents, students, and outside agencies
