JOB SUMMARY:
Implements all athletic policies as approved by the SBCUSD Board of Education.
Conforms to all CBL and CIF regulations; interprets regulations to staff.
Works to increase student/athlete participation.
Recruits, develops and evaluates coaching staff in conjunction with the vice principal for athletics and the athletic director.
Understands the administrative chain of command and refers all program requests through the proper channels.
Works collegially with other program head coaches, activity sponsors and school personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and organizes a structured softball practice program.
- Acts as a liaison to inform the staff, administration, general public, and local news media about the school’s softball program.
- Develops and administers a continuous off-season conditioning and recruitment program.
- Conducts and analyzes scouting reports.
- Evaluates assistant coaches and athletes.
- Aids students in securing scholarship assistance.
- Assists with maintenance and inventory of all equipment and supplies.
- Plans and develops game responsibilities.
- Directs the school’s overall softball program including junior varsity, and varsity.
- Assists the athletic director in developing and administering the softball budget and scheduling.
- Attends coaching clinics and conferences to maintain professional growth.
- Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by administration.
- Designs and implements a program to ensure academic eligibility.
- Has a working knowledge of MaxPreps website and keep it up to date.
Requirements / Qualifications
District teaching application packet (or Edjoin Certificated Application); a comprehensive resume; a copy of California teaching credential, First Aid and/or CPR card, and current placement file (or three current letters of recommendation).

REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of five years successful experience as a softball coach. Three of these years must be at the varsity level; Proven ability to organize and lead adults and students; Proven ability to make effective presentations, written and oral, and develop and maintain positive school and community relationships; Valid American Red Cross or American Heart Association First Aid card and/or CPR card.
