Job Description:
A Support Teacher is the support leader of his/her classroom. His/Her primary task is to support the lead teacher in educating the students in an environment and manner that nurtures and guides them, with great consideration for the needs of each individual child and the class as a whole. He/She shall strive to expand the student’s inherent curiosity into a life-long passion for learning.
A Support Teacher is expected to be committed to and actively support the mission and educational goals, as articulated in the school’s charter. He/She shall teach from a foundation of the Waldorf educational philosophy, and integrate this foundation with other current educational approaches. He/She is responsible for supporting the lead teacher in meeting the educational needs of assigned students and for providing appropriate instruction as prescribed by the Live Oak Charter School curriculum and grade level standards. Particular emphasis will be placed on the following areas: academic excellence, developmentally appropriate curriculum, consideration of individual student differences, development of social skills, thorough lesson preparation, artistic presentation and classroom management. This position is four hours per day (50%).
