1 On 1 Academic Tutors is an established educational company that partners with families and communities to empower our youth through education. Our free tutoring program for underprivileged kids not only helps students improve on exams, but also helps them develop confidence, study skills, and a love of learning so they can continue on their own. With this holistic approach to personalized education, our services have a lasting effect on students, providing academic assistance that will change their entire educational path and open the doors of opportunity.
DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking enthusiastic Tutors who enjoy working with children and can tutor in English Language Arts and/or Math for all students in grades K-12. As a tutor you will be mentoring and helping the community in grooming our future leaders. In addition, you will help parents take charge of their children's education.
We will be conducting interviews over the summer season for tutoring work that is to begin and continue throughout the academic school year until May 2013. Tutoring takes place in the student's home or local library. All tutoring is personalized and conducted in one-on-one or small group settings. Tutors schedule all sessions based on their availability.
THE IDEAL TUTOR:
-Patient, responsible and passionate about teaching
-Must be able to tutor in Math and/or English Language Arts for grades K-12
-Bilingual in Spanish & English is a plus
-Previous experience as a tutor with the NCLB / SES free tutoring program is a plus
-A minimum of 60 college units
-Must be able to provide proof of a current TB Test (within past 4 years) and a complete/clear criminal background check
-Must have a car or a reliable means of transportation

- Maywood/Huntington Park/South Gate/Cudahy
- Florence/Westmont/South Central LA
- South Bay & Harbor Area (San Pedro,Gardena,Wilmington)
COMPENSATION:
-From $20.00/hour (one-on-one) to $30.00/hour (small group) for tutors with advanced experience working with various special needs students
-From $18.00/hour (one-on-one) to $28.00/hour (small group) for tutors with a Masters, PhD, and/or Teaching Credential
-From $16.50/hour (one-on-one) to $26.50/hour (small group) for tutors with a Bachelor's degree from a four year university
-From $15.00/hour (one-on-one) to $25.00/hour (small group) for tutors who have an Associate's degree or completed a minimum of 60 credits
