Canyon Elementary School District is seeking a creative and collaborative Music Specialist Teacher to provide engaging music instruction for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Canyon is a small, community-oriented K–8 school with multiage classrooms. The Music Specialist will provide developmentally appropriate music instruction that builds students’ skills, confidence, creativity, and enjoyment of music. Responsibilities The Music Specialist Teacher will: Plan and teach music lessons for students in grades K–8. Provide instruction in areas such as singing, rhythm, movement, instruments, music literacy, listening, composition, and performance. Adapt instruction for different ages, abilities, and levels of musical experience. Create a positive, inclusive learning environment. Collaborate with classroom teachers and the Superintendent/Principal as appropriate. Help prepare students for occasional school performances, assemblies, or community events. Assist with the care and organization of music materials and instruments. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Valid California teaching credential authorizing music instruction in the assigned grades. Appropriate English Learner authorization. Ability to meet all required District employment clearances. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching music to elementary and/or middle school students. Experience working with students across multiple grade levels. Ability to provide engaging vocal and/or instrumental music instruction.
