Under direction, through individual and group instruction, assists pupils to fulfill their capacities for mental, physical, emotional and social growth; uses teaching techniques appropriate to stimulate their abilities and interests; uses special instructional procedures as necessary to meet the individual needs of severely handicapped pupils.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Experience: Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited college or university Licenses and Certification: California Teaching Credential authorizing performance of service within programs for Extensive Needs. For teachers providing special education services to children from birth through pre-kindergarten, the Early Childhood Special Education Added Authorization is required. First Aid and CPR Certification within six (6) months of employment For classrooms where students may require physical restraint: Complete approved MCOE Crisis Intervention Program within six (6) months of employment and maintain valid certification California driver’s license and evidence of insurability
