Job Summary

Under the direction of the Mental Health Program Manager, and in conjunction with the site principals and school teams, the school-based Mental Health Therapist provides a variety of mental health services in support of students and their families including, but not limited to, assessment, treatment planning, goal development, socio-emotional counseling, case management, crisis intervention, school site teachers and administrators support, and assistance in the implementation of appropriate treatment or services. The school-based Mental Health Therapist will utilize a variety of therapeutic perspectives, strategies, and interventions for the betterment of the students’ academic, social, emotional, and/or behavioral functioning. The therapist will apply well-developed communication skills sufficient to interact with administrators, teachers, other staff members, parents, and students in formal and informal settings.

Requirements / Qualifications

PPS credential desired but not required.

  • Certification (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) or Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW), and gaining hours toward licensure.)
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (2 Current - Written Within the Last Year )
  • Other (Master’s Degree or higher in psychology, counseling, social work, or a closely related field)
  • Resume
