Twin Ridges Home Study is a homeschool and therefore the Education Specialist works with students one on one or in a small group setting to provide services, not in a classroom setting. The Education Specialist will provide case management, services and serve as an integral part of the TRHS Special Education Team. This position works with pupils whose needs have been identified in, or are being considered for, an individualized education program (IEP). This position is supervised by the TRHS Director and works directly with the school site administrator, general education teachers, and other student services team members. The Education Specialist demonstrates knowledge of special education laws, inclusive instructional practices, and evidence-based strategies for supporting students with mild to moderate disabilities. The educator applies principles of differentiated instruction, social-emotional learning, and positive behavior supports to promote student access, engagement, and growth. This role requires strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, general and special education staff, and multidisciplinary teams; and proficiency in special education data systems and instructional technology.
