Job Summary
The Football Head Coach at JSerra is, first and foremost, a man of God who models for the young men in his program a deep love for Jesus Christ and a faith that is lived out in practice by his daily witness and fierce commitment to personal spiritual growth. Professionally speaking he provides the necessary practice, support, and supervision of the Football program using existing expertise in the sport. The coach’s responsibilities include planning and leading all training sessions, providing motivation and direction during gameplay, developing game plans, as well as hiring and managing entire coaching staff. You should be able to identify the individual abilities of each player and provide one-to-one coaching wherever required. To be successful as a football coach, you should demonstrate great love for the game of football and be able to foster good sportsmanship in the players. Outstanding candidates are highly motivated, committed, disciplined, patient and ready to compete at the highest level. Responsibilities: • Develop a culture and program structure that will support healthy competition, fostering spiritual, physical and mental growth and team unity • Create a seasonal practice plan, competition calendar, with options for pre-season training, including summer and fall training, as well as spring training • Grow the Football program to a competitive number of participants to field all levels; F/S, JV, Varsity • Fielding a highly competitive team in the Trinity League • Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: o Ability to manage a budget (creating and balancing the budget) o Ensure participation of families in fundraising projects (Kickoff party, Lion Nation Golf Tournament, BLAST, Media Guide, etc.) o Support booster meetings while working with the team’s booster president o Secure team related apparel and equipment o Coordinate transportation to/from competitions with Director of Football Operations o Hire and manage assistant coa
Requirements / Qualifications
Requirements: • Extensive knowledge and a passion of the sport of Football, including rules and regulations of the game created by NFHS and CIF • Prior experience playing/coaching is required. Prior experience coaching at the High School level is strongly preferred • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills • Ability to work well with others • Current certifications in CPR, Cardiac Emergencies, Heat Illness Prevention, Concussion training, and NFHS (all of which must be completed prior to coaching) • Must become familiar with and agree to follow professional guidelines set forth in CIF and JSerra Catholic High School • Must attend all weekly school masses and ensure that any other 12-month assistant coaches attend as well • Must attend all head coaches meetings, coach spiritual development, and all Inside Out Training administered by the athletic department, and all staff meetings required by the school administration.
