There are 5 positions – between 5.25 hrs/day and 5.5 hrs/day, 181 days/yr with the possibility of “clustering” the position with another part-time position at Eureka City Schools if interested in working more hours. Requirements / Qualifications
Will train the right applicant! Trainee Incentive: Trainees will be paid minimum wage (currently $16.50/hr) for the hours spent in Classroom and Behind-the-Wheel Training. Current ECS Employees will be paid their currently hourly pay rate. The payout will not occur until the Trainee passes both the Classroom and Behind-the-Wheel CHP-required tests. Classroom Training: Approximately 25 hours. Behind-the-Wheel (BTW) Training: Approximately 30 hours The Director will have the discretion of determining trainees’ and employees’ continuing progress and have discretion to terminate the training if the Director believes candidates are not making acceptable progress, or will not successfully complete the entire program. Employment: Trainees who successfully complete the required trainings and pass the required testing will be offered either a regular or substitute School Bus Driver position. Substitute School Bus Drivers will be paid at Step 1 of the hourly School Bus Driver wage for all hours worked. New Regular School Bus Drivers will be offered a $12,000 Incentive Program, structured and paid out in the following manner: - Completion of Year 1 = $1,500 - Completion of Year 2 = $2,500 - Completion of Year 3 = $3,500 - Completion of Year 4 = $4,500 Additional Hourly Wage for School Bus Drivers: - School Bus Drivers who work additional hours at lower-wage jobs in the District will be paid their regular bus driver hourly wage for all hours worked at lower waged jobs. - The additional hourly wage would be applicable only during the regular school year, and would not apply to summer work. - In order to qualify for the additional hourly wage, employees must be employed as bus drivers for a minimum of 5 hrs/day. - Drivers will only be paid for actual hours worked.
