Job Summary
Resource Specialist is responsible for instruction and assistance to individuals with special needs, providing instruction in groups and one-on-one to students assigned to the Resource Specialist Program in those academic areas identified in the student’s Individualized Education Program. Evaluates students’ progress on a regular basis. Maintains current records by documenting progress. Provides resource information, materials and assistance to eligible students, their parents and school staff. Consults as needed with administrators, parents, teachers, psychologists, principal and other professionals involved. Evaluates the referrals of students, including assessments, for special education programs and services. Participates and assists in job- related meetings and in-service education either on or off campus. Writes IEP’s and includes in them transitional goals. Develop curriculum and adapts curriculum and materials to meet individual student needs. Meets with classroom teachers to develop methods for documenting the success of modifications to the students’ general education program. Researches and orders materials.
