* * * THIS POSITION IS OPEN TO INTERNAL CANDIDATES ONLY * * * * * * THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION FOR THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR * * * JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Human Resources, acts as a specialist to residents in the Lynwood Teacher Residency Program, most especially in Special Education. Overall, this roll will build the capacity of residents and their mentors, ensure the residents acquire the understanding and skills to 1) enhance instructional practices at the classroom level, 2) assess resident and mentors needs and implement activities to achieve program objectives. Building and maintain respectful relationships with teachers and all staff is essential for the position. Extra workdays may be required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Credential: Education Specialist Instruction Credential. Must meet ESEA Highly Qualified teacher requirements. Experience: Three (3) or more years of successful teaching experience at the K-12 level in Special Education demonstrating site instructional leadership roles. Personal Qualities: Must possess good judgment, knowledge of school and district policies, and ability to reinforce appropriate school behavior. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Program Oversight and Execution: • Responsible for the oversight and execution of the Teacher Residency Program for the Lynwood Unified region. Program Design and Instruction: • Design and facilitate group instruction for all Residents in their region each week based on best practices in adult learning and teacher education, working closely with other Alder Directors to align trainings to meet Resident needs.

• Design and facilitate group instruction for all Mentors each month and provide on-going coaching and support. • Deliver program content via in-person and online courses for the Teacher Residency program. • Lead the use and development of a suite of online learning offerings via Canvas. Resident and Mentor Support & Supervision: • Supervise, manage, and support Residents through their Residency year. • Coach and advise residents towards the successful completion of the graduate program and residency. • Lead site visits that foster resident and mentor growth. • Provide feedback to residents and mentors as it relates to the Teacher Residency program. • Communicate with mentors on a weekly basis, providing coaching and other professional learning. • Work with the Lead Mentor, Program Supervisors, and departments in the Region to successfully support Residents and Mentors. Recruitment and Partnership Development: • Work with the Director, Human Resources, and Alder Graduate School (Alder GSE) Teams to recruit, select, and enroll potential residents. • Collaborate with district and/or site administrators to recruit and select teacher mentors, and to establish mentor/resident partnerships. • Collaborate with the Alder team to recruit, select, and match an excellent Resident/Mentor cohort each year.
