Job Summary

DEFINITION Under the supervision of the Director of Special Education and under the direction of a Speech & Language Pathologist (SLP), the Speech & Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) provides direct speech and language therapy services to students and performs a variety of instructional activities and support activities for students with a range of disabilities in classrooms at various school site locations. The SLPA may work with children from preschool age to 8th grade depending on district need. This position will assist the supervising SLP on a day-to-day basis and will provide services to students as outlined in the treatment plans. This position will also assist with departmental operations such as scheduling appointments, record keeping, and preparing therapy materials

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Experience: • A high school diploma or GED, equivalency sufficient to assure the ability to read and write English and to perform arithmetical calculations at the level required for successful job performance PLUS an Associate's degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant training or equivalent course of study approved by the State Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board. Hold and maintain California approved license/documentation Any combination of training and experience in the area of speech and language therapy. Qualify for a Standard First Aid and CPR certificate
