BASIC FUNCTION: The Stanislaus County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) has been organized under a Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) and is governed by the Superintendents’ Council. Under the direction of the Superintendents’ Council the SELPA Executive Director provides strategic leadership and oversight of all Stanslaus County SELPA operations in accordance with the approved Local Plan and applicable state and federal regulations. The Executive Director is responsible for budget development and fiscal oversight, program implementation and compliance, and collaboration with Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and other community partners. The Executive Director is charged to provide advocacy, professional development, training, and oversight of special education services, ensuring students receive high-quality, equitable services. The Executive Director ensures compliance with state and federal regulations and provides technical assistance to member LEAs while fostering collaboration.
Requirements / Qualifications
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION: •Copy of valid California Administrative Services Credential. •Copy of valid California Teaching Credential or Pupil Personnel Services Credential. •Copy of transcripts showing proof of Degree (Can be unofficial at the time of application) Credential copies should include the name of the credential, details of the credential, authorizations of the credential, issuance and expiration dates & document number. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Minimum Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in special education administration, including budget oversight, program compliance, and personel supervison; Experience in state and federal compliance related to special education. Master’s degree in education, special education, or related field preferred; Experience working with Joint Powers Authorities and Agreements (JPAs) and Local Plans or equivalent preferred; Knowledge of state funding allocation methods and school finance preferred; Experience in conflict resolution and mediation preferred.
