TITLE OF POSITION: Coordinator, Special Education
A. Primary Function: Coordinates and manages special education programs and services
B. Directly Responsible to: Executive Director Special Education
C. Representative Duties:

Provides administrative leadership for Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings as needed. E

Provides district-level leadership, coordination, and oversight of parentally placed private school student assessments. E
-
Provides district-level leadership, coordination, and oversight of special education procedures and processes to ensure Individual Education Plan (IEP) compliance. E
-
Provides district-level leadership, coordination, and oversight of extended school year and summer programs. E
-
Assists with special education self reviews. E
-
Provides district-level leadership, coordination, and oversight of educationally related mental health services. E
-
Acts as a liaison to North Coastal Consortium for Special Education (NCCSE) when needed.

Provides district-level leadership and coordination of special education transportation services. E
-
Provides district-level leadership, coordination, and oversight of professional development for special education staff. E
-
Assists Executive Director, Special Education with instructional and curricular leadership,
-
Coordinates district professional development for parents, certificated and classified staff.
-
Provides updates to the Executive Director, Special Education.
13. Supports the evaluation of school psychologists. E
14. Evaluates assigned personnel.
15. Performs other related duties as assigned.
D. Education and Experience:
Valid California Administrative Services Credential
Valid California driver’s license
Five (5) years of successful teaching, counseling, psychology and/or administrative experience
Completion of a Master’s Degree
E. Qualifications:
Knowledge of:
Curriculum standards, interpretation and application in assigned instructional programs and services
Planning, organization, coordination and implementation of the operations, activities, educational services and support functions of an assigned instructional program
Practices, procedures, and techniques involved in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of designated instructional programs and services
Applicable sections of the State Education Code and other applicable State and Federal laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures related to position
Various technologies used in teaching and learning
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
Abilities to:
Communicate effectively orally and in writing
Work in a diverse socio-economic and multicultural community
Maintain consistent, punctual and regular attendance
Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff
Plan, organize and present information to staff, parents, and/or students
Interpret, apply, explain, and enforce rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Read a variety of materials
Meet schedules and deadlines
Maintain records and exercise confidentiality
Use a computer or other technology-based equipment
