The Vice Principal & Intervention Teacher position is a dual-role leadership opportunity at Lake Elementary School District, serving students in Grades TK–8. This 50/50 role combines instructional leadership and student support, with half of the responsibilities dedicated to assisting the Superintendent/Principal in school administration and fostering a positive, safe, and effective learning environment. The other half focuses on delivering targeted academic intervention for students needing additional support in reading, math, and English language development. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, collaboration, and instructional skills, and will be committed to supporting both staff and students through a student-centered approach. A California Administrative Services Credential is not required.

Job Description: Vice Principal (50%) and Intervention Teacher (50%)
Vice Principal (50%) Job Summary: The Vice Principal will serve as a key instructional leader and administrator, supporting the Superintendent/Principal in the day-to-day operations and the overall educational mission of Lake Elementary School District. This role will focus on fostering a positive and safe learning environment, supporting instructional practices, managing student conduct, and building strong relationships with students, staff, and parents. The school's community environment, with an average of 210 students between Grades TK-8, necessitates a collaborative and student centered approach.
Position will not evaluate certificated staff. California Administrative Services Credential is NOT required.
Responsibilities:
• Assist the Superintendent/Principal in the development, implementation, and evaluation of school policies, procedures, and programs.
• Provide leadership and support to teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies.
• Oversee student discipline and implement positive behavior support systems, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.
• Supervise and evaluate classified staff as assigned.
• Coordinate and facilitate professional development opportunities for staff.
• Manage student attendance and address related issues.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and school-related matters.
• Assist in the management of school facilities and resources, including the new and updated facilities.
• Collaborate with the Superintendent/Principal on budget development and management.
• Represent the school at meetings and events as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent/Principal.
Intervention Teacher (50%) Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the site administrator, the Intervention Teacher applies specialized expertise in reading, math, and/or English language development to provide intervention instruction to TK-8 students in need of academic support. The Intervention Teacher works with the district team to plan and implement effective K-8 intervention programs, works collaboratively with teachers and paraprofessionals; trains staff on the use of research-based interventions; models lessons for teachers; serves as a coach; monitors student progress; and delivers targeted instruction during intervention to identified students based on student data.

- Assesses individual students and/or groups of students using a variety of assessment instruments, including math and reading tests, and other measures as appropriate, and assists with placement.
- Administers standardized tests and other District-selected tests in accordance with the District testing program.
- Models lessons to demonstrate specific intervention strategies, lesson delivery, and maintain instructional fidelity of research-based interventions.
- May conduct focused classroom visitations and provides specific feedback to teachers for professional support.
- Coaches teachers in the use of ‘best practices’ across the content areas, including English Learners, and other at-risk students in intervention to accelerate student learning.
- Assists classroom teachers in identifying learning challenges and planning appropriate instruction.
- Assists school administrator in school-wide teaching and learning planning, development, and implementation.
- Supports grade-level and school wide Professional Development where needed.
- Provide ongoing staff development/training for instructional aides.
- Keeps appropriate, accurate, and timely data collection records on students receiving intervention.
- Develops lesson plans, instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Organizes daily lessons so that pupils understand directions and explanations clearly.
- Differentiates instruction to reflect the needs of individual students.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Motivates pupils through a variety of techniques.
- Demonstrates skill in asking and answering questions with increasing levels of complexity.
- Communicates in a professional manner with parents through a variety of means and in a timely fashion.
- Maintains professional competences through participation in in-service education activities provided by the school and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
- Participates in curriculum development programs within the school.
- Plans and coordinates the work of Instructional Aides and Paraprofessionals as necessary.
- Collaborates with colleagues to develop intervention plans and common formative and summative assessments.
- Collaborates effectively with colleagues on professional learning community team(s) and instructional data team(s) to improve instruction.
- Works with special educators in implementing IEPs and 504 plans for students to appropriately modify instruction, services, and expectations for students with these plans; Attends SST, 504, and IEP meetings as needed.
- Assumes other assigned academic/nonacademic responsibilities.
- Helps maintain positive classroom and school-wide climates.
- Pursues professional development opportunities to improve instructional practices and student achievement.
Qualifications:
• California Administrative Services Credential is NOT required.
• Minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience at the elementary or middle school level (Grades K-8, consistent with the district's grade levels).
• Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in a school setting.
• Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional best practices, and assessment methods.
• Experience with student discipline and positive behavior interventions and supports.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, parents, and the community.
• Familiarity with school law and regulations.
