Job Summary
Alameda County Office of Education Infant & Family Support Program is a relationship-centered organization that provides individualized early childhood special education to students birth to three who have disabilities or significant developmental delays. Services are provided in the child’s home, childcare, and/or community, as well in our classrooms. Through education, advocacy, and partnerships, we strive to empower families, enhance caregiver capacity, and build a positive view of the future. The Teacher, Early Intervention Specialist performs assessments, writes appropriate goals, and assists in the development of the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP). They then implement goals and objectives of the IFSP as part of a transdisciplinary or multidisciplinary team. The teacher will provide specialized instruction services to eligible infants and toddlers and their families, through a caregiver coaching model. Instruction focuses on promoting attuned interactions, providing resources and information about the child’s disability and individual needs, and coaching caregivers in learning new strategies they can use to enhance the child’s development and participation in the natural activities and routines of everyday life. Regular duties include providing home visits, leading playgroups, designing and hosting family involvement activities, and providing inclusion support. Services are primarily provided in the child’s home or community setting where the child spends their day. Teachers also facilitate play groups to provide opportunities for toddlers and their caregivers to socialize and learn together. This job reports to the Assigned Administrator. Requirements / Qualifications
Education: Education Specialist Instruction (ECSE) Credential (required) Masters Degree in Early Childhood Special Education (preferred) Experience: Minimum two (2) year’s experience working with infants and toddlers with low incidence disabilities and developmental delays (preferred) Experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary or trans-disciplinary team, doing assessments, writing goals and intervention strategies, providing family support and training, conduction visits at a variety of community settings (preferred) Bilingual (English/Spanish) (preferred) Certificates: CPR and First Aid certificate (required) Reliable transportation (required)
