Job Summary

Under the supervision and direction of the Site Principal or Designee, the Instructor-Garden will use the provided curriculum when collaborating with other educators to provide learning experiences, while co-teaching students in the garden, student kitchens, and classroom spaces. The school gardens support hands-on, active learning roles for students who, through their garden work, are able to see the steps required to support healthy nutrition, environmental practices, and local ecological sustainability. The incumbents in this classification provide the school community with instructional services that directly support student learning.

Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIRED: (Experience in the field may be substituted for the degree requirements.) High school diploma or the equivalent. Two years of college (48 units), or A.A. degree (or higher). B.A. degree in related field preferred. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would qualify. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be the completion of relevant college coursework in the area of specialty and/or at least one year of work experience directly related to the field of specialty. Horticultural experience is desirable.
