Job Summary
ABILITY TO: - Use a variety of modern methods, techniques and practices in occupational therapy; - Make accurate assessments of the developmental status and educational needs of students; - Understand the unique differences and needs of students and their parents; - Administer assessment tests and participate in the IEP team process; - Make oral presentations - Properly use and care for the materials, supplies and adaptive equipment; - Communicate clearly, both oral and in writing; - Work cooperatively with District personnel, families, community representatives, interdisciplinary teams and students; - Maintain confidentiality of sensitive or privileged information and exercise discretion in the use and disclosure of information; - Operate a computer terminal with various types of computer soft ware programs; - Learn, interpret, explain and apply District and departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures; - Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: - May be required to assist in lifting, carrying and/or pushing students and/or orthopedic devices weighing up to 150 pounds. - Mental acuity to interpret and implement policies, procedures and regulations relating to the assigned department or school site. Requirements / Qualifications
- A combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the position. - Completion of Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree and college course work in occupational therapy as required for certification. - Work experience with children (from birth to twenty-two years of age) providing occupational therapy services. * Valid registration by the American Occupational Therapy Association or National Board Certification in Occupational Therapy. * Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
