PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Inclusion Specialist will collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, support staff and parents to design, implement and evaluate appropriate inclusion supports for identified students with Individual Education Plans; The Inclusion Teacher will support and coordinate various interventions for students with disabilities that allows for successful participation in the least restrictive instructional setting.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Inclusion Specialist Teacher
Certificated- 1.0 FTE
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Inclusion Specialist will collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, support staff and parents to design, implement and evaluate appropriate inclusion supports for identified students with Individual Education Plans; The Inclusion Teacher will support and coordinate various interventions for students with disabilities that allows for successful participation in the least restrictive instructional setting.
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: School Site Principal and Director of Special Services
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attend student's individualized education plan meetings and collaborate with the team on the development of student goals.
Communicate with Early Intervention through 8th-grade parents and staff regarding student progress.
Support student educational needs including transitioning between general education classrooms and a special education setting by collaborating with appropriate staff members.
Observe instructional settings in order to make recommendations of support needed for student success.
Provide assistance and professional development to staff members.
Provide training to paraprofessionals on appropriate interventions to maximize student independence across instructional settings.
Attend all appropriate staff meetings, in-services and workshops for teachers and other related professional meetings.
Knowledge of:
Interventions, curriculum, and methodologies utilized in teaching students with disabilities in preschool-grade 8.
Positive student behavior management strategies and techniques
Data-gathering methodology
Special education laws and procedures
Effective consultation skills
Ability to:
Design and deliver quality professional development for administrators and teachers.
Model lessons demonstrating best practice instruction.
Support teachers in the development of differentiated instruction.
Communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing.
Function as a positive collaborative member of a team.
Present and facilitate in both small and large groups.
Qualifications:
A valid Education Specialist Credential
