Job Summary

BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Superintendent or designee, the Director of Technology provides strategic leadership in the planning, implementation, and management of the district’s technology systems. This role oversees IT infrastructure, department staffing, cybersecurity, data governance, and the integration of educational technology (EdTech) to support digital learning initiatives. The Director plays a critical role in state data reporting requirements, including ensuring accuracy and compliance with CALPADS (California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System). Additionally, the position supports state-mandated testing, facilitates compliance with state regulations, and ensures the efficient administration of assessments. The Director of Technology collaborates with school leaders, educators, and district staff to enhance teaching and learning through effective use of technology and data-driven insights, ensuring that technology aligns with the district’s instructional and operational goals.

Requirements / Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities. Minimum of 5 years of experience in technology management, preferably within an educational setting. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Educational Technology, Computer Science, Educational Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). Proven leadership experience with strategic planning, project management, school technology best practices, state data reporting, SIS administration, and data analytics in a school district or similar environment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with data reporting and analytics in a school setting. Experience with state data reporting platforms such as CALPADS, CBEDS, and other state-mandated reporting systems. Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and best practices. Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to educational technology, data privacy, testing compliance, and data reporting. Previous experience coordinating state assessments or educational testing programs.
