Position Title: Music Teacher (Middle / High School) Location: Bellflower, California School District: Bellflower Unified School District (BUSD) Position Type: Full-Time, Certificated Grade Levels: 7–12 Subject Area: Instrumental, Vocal, Marching Band, and General Music Position Overview The Bellflower Unified School District is seeking a dynamic and versatile Music Teacher to lead a robust and diverse music program for grades 7 through 12. This position requires proficiency in strings, orchestra, marching band, vocal music, and general music education. The ideal candidate will inspire students through high-quality instruction, ensemble leadership, and community engagement, helping to foster a lifelong appreciation for music. Key Responsibilities Teach a variety of music courses including: Strings and Orchestra (beginning to advanced levels) Marching Band and Concert Band Vocal Music/Choir General Music and Music Appreciation Direct and manage ensembles for school concerts, competitions, parades, and community events. Coordinate and oversee the Marching Band program, including field shows, pep band performances, and seasonal rehearsals. Plan and implement instruction that meets the California Music Content Standards. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with diverse abilities and backgrounds. Promote a safe, positive, and respectful classroom environment. Organize and maintain instruments, music library, and related equipment. Collaborate with other music and arts educators within the district and community. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and program events. Participate in school functions, staff meetings, and district professional development opportunities. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field. • Valid California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music. • English Learner Authorization (ELA) or equivalent. • CBEST (California Basic Educational Skills Test) passing score. • Experience with both instrumental and vocal instruction, including ensemble direction. • Knowledge of marching band techniques and repertoire. • Ability to teach music theory, sight-singing, and a variety of musical styles. • Excellent classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills. • Prior experience teaching at the middle/high school level preferred.
