Description of Position - Classified Mgmt. Under direction of the Assistant Director of Program Development, Principals, or designee, performing duties in overseeing of the school wide athletic program by planning, implementation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of interscholastic athletic programs for the school; promotes extracurricular athletic activity that fosters skill development, understanding of sports, and appreciation for a variety of athletic activities and programs, teaming, and sportsmanship for students and adults; promotes an effective relationship between the school and the community members to enhance a professional athletics program; responsible for the supervision and evaluation of assigned staff and does related work as required. Directs and supervises the athletic program at Santa Rosa Academy in compliance with California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) rules, League rules and Board of Education policies and procedures. This position is a classified management position and is part of the Administrative Leadership Team.

Requirements / Qualifications

Position is open immediately This is for a Full Time 12 Month Classified Mgmt position for Athletic Director. This position is for a K-12 Charter School and runs the athletic programs for Middle School (6-8) and High School CIF program (9-12). This position is salaried and works afternoon through the evening for 8 hours per day to support athletic program. Some weekend may be assigned. Position Receives: 21 Vacation Days 12 Sick Days 3 PN Days 15 Paid Holiday $11,750 in Health and Welfare Benefits Annually Longevity Stipend after completing 5 years Part of the Leadership Team Education and Experience: • An associate’s degree in sports management, physical education, or a related field is required or National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) certifications, such as the Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA), in lieu of degree. • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in school athletics program management, is desirable. • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a head coach at a high school or collegiate level. • Understanding of California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) rules, state athletic regulations, and school policies related to student-athletes and interscholastic sports. • Has successfully demonstrated the ability to lead groups, analyze situations as needed and carry out directives and communicate effectively. Possesses exemplary presentation skills. • Must possess a valid California driver’s license and be insurable. • Demonstrate excellence in leadership and management skills. • Qualities of excellence, integrity, respect, compassion, courage, and forthrightness in dealing with students, parents, and staff. • Demonstrate skills in decision-making, problem solving, change management, planning, conflict management, and evaluation. • Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. • Meet schedules and timelines. • Work independently with little direction.
