Requirements / Qualifications

GENERAL PURPOSE Under the directions of the assigned supervisor, the HVAC, Building and Control Engineer is responsible for maintaining building automation and efficiency in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Condition (HVAC), central plant and associated systems and controls to ensure proper functioning and operation of HVAC, control, and related central plant systems. This includes heating/air, central plant operations and controls, air conditioning and/or refrigeration systems, facility automation systems, vacuum systems, pneumatic systems, and compressed air systems; facility automation systems include, Direct Digital Control Systems (DDCS), Energy and Building Management Systems (BMS), Local Area Networks (LAN), BACnet Networks, programable field devices and digital controllers; identifying repair/replacement needs necessary to maintain equipment and systems; providing necessary information on the proper uses of the equipment; and ensuring adequate materials are available to complete assignments in a timely manner. REQUIREMENTS A high school diploma or the equivalent; and Three years of experience that demonstrates journey-level skill in the heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and air conditioning trade. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, disabilities and learning styles of community college students and staff. Certificates & Licenses (or ability to obtain prior to start date) HVAC/R Controls/Building Automation Certification(s) Universal EPA Certification Valid CA Driver’s License Desirable Qualifications: NATE Commercial Refrigeration Service Certification

WORK SCHEDULE Campus: Kentfield and Indian Valley Campus (Novato) Full-time Equivalent: 1.0 – Full-time Months per Year: 12 Work Days/Hours: Monday - Friday 6:30am - 3:00pm or 7:00am - 3:30pm 40 Hours per Week SALARY INFORMATION FLSA Status: Non-exempt Salary Range: SEIU 717-4 Starting Salary Range: $43.05 per hour (Step 3). CLASSIFICATION CATEGORY & RETIREMENT PLAN The HVAC, Building and Control Engineer is a classified position represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), in compliance with all applicable sections of the California Education Code and related statutes. Employees in classifications represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1021 and are required to comply fully with the SEIU/Marin Community College District (MCCD) Collective Bargaining Agreement. General information regarding rights and responsibilities under the Agreement can be found in the Collective Bargaining Agreements section of our Human Resources site. SEIU employees are also members of the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), to which the member contributes up to 8% of their reportable compensation on a monthly basis.
