Coaching Responsibilities The Pajaro Valley Unified School District hires coaches annually to prepare athletes for competitive participation. The Cross County Coach at Aptos Junior High School will be responsible for: 1. Teaching sports techniques, rules, strategies, and game tactics. 2. Conditioning athletes to develop endurance, strength, and agility. 3. Supervising practices, contests, locker rooms, and transportation to ensure safety and discipline. 4. Instilling values such as sportsmanship, teamwork, work ethic, and accountability. 5. Monitoring academic performance, school attendance, and personal conduct of athletes. 6. Providing first aid and attending to player injuries using approved methods. 7. Managing uniforms, equipment, and facilities responsibly. 8. Ensuring coverage for practices or events in case of coaching absences.

The Pajaro Valley Unified School District annually hires coaches to prepare athletes for competition.
Coaches have responsibility for:
a. teaching sports techniques, playing rules, strategies and playing tactics;
b. conditioning athletes appropriately for activities requiring endurance, strength and agility;
c. supervising and conducting practices and contests safely; supervising locker rooms and buses;
d. teaching sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic and responsibility to one's team;
e. monitoring athletes' school attendance, grades and personal conduct;
f. responding to player injuries with approved first aid techniques;
g. managing uniforms, equipment and school facilities in a responsible manner;
h. provide coverage for absence of coaches.

MATERIALS MATERIALS Aptos Junior High School is accepting applications for Cross Country Coach for the 2025-2026 school year. Cross Country Season (September 2nd 2025- October 10th 2025). The school supports approximately 600 students with an administration that understands the importance of the strong link between athletics and academics.
Employment with the Pajaro Valley Unified School District is not complete or official until applicants meet all pre-employment requirements. As part of the selection process, all new employees are required to provide the following information: new employees must be fingerprinted (paid by the District); TB test (paid by the employee); social security card; picture identification; CPR; and first aid
