Job Summary
The State Preschool Intern operates under the supervision of a State Preschool Teacher to provide care, instruction, and supervision of children in a County-operated State Preschool program under the direct supervision of a fully qualified staff member (State Preschool Teacher and/or Associate). The State Preschool Intern also assists in the preparation and collaboration and presentation of activity plans and assists in record-keeping.
Requirements / Qualifications
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Supports the teacher in the instruction of children; • Supports in the presentation of activity plans; • Supports in creation and maintenance of a safe and stimulating student environment; • Supports in supervising children in play and developmentally age-appropriate activities; • Assists in the preparation of records and reports; • Participates in collecting evidence for student assessment; Desired Results Developmental Profile – Revised (DRDP-R) data and/or data entry; • Maintains positive and professional working relationships with support staff, parents, and the community; • Attends meetings as applicable; • Reads SBCSS emails regularly to receive pertinent information; • Performs related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Experience working with preschoolers or infants/toddlers (paid or volunteer), including caring for one’s own children, volunteering in a classroom setting, babysitting, or other childcare, and/or supervising child activities (this experience must be shown on your application and/or attachments); • Possession of a valid California Child Development Assistant Permit – OR – completion in an ROP Childcare Occupations or similar ROP program – OR – six (6) units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development (CD). NECESSARY MATERIALS FOR APPLICATION • Completed EDJOIN application (incomplete applications will not be accepted); • Copy of valid California Child Development Assistant Permit – OR – ROP Certificate of Completion – OR – transcripts verifying applicable units; • One (1) current letter of reference (dated and signed within 3 years).
