Provide curriculum and instruction for adult ESL Beginning Literacy class - Tuesday and Thursday evenings 6:00 to 9:00 PM. First day of work is August 4, first day on instruction is August 19. Students are learning basic English vocabulary and phrases, such as greetings and days of the week. They are learning how to recognize letters and sounds. Instruction must include lots and lots of repetition and oral practice: using short dialog frames, repeating after the teacher, repetitive practice in pairs or in groups, and repetitive practice in tea party type activities. Teacher must create a welcoming, safe and accessible learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds and various level of formal education to learn and make mistakes.
