The Calaveras County Office of Education (“CCOE”) partners with our four local school districts and the community to provide quality education to our county’s 5,270 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grades. We manage alternative education programs for students at Calaveras River Academy, Mountain Oaks Charter School (an Independent Study program), and Oakendell Community School. We also offer adult education services, and a variety of special education services as the Responsible Local Agency (“RLA”) for the Special Education Local Plan Area (“SELPA”); including, five special education preschool programs and a program for transition-aged young adults (ages 18-22). Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor, the Child Development Teacher will provide an organized summer program for the education and recreation for the children who attend.
Requirements / Qualifications
Completed online application, personal letter of interest, current resume, 3 recent letters of recommendation, and college transcripts verifying total required units. Copies of transcripts must be attached to verify possession of required education/units.
Aide High school diploma or equivalency -OR- Assistant Teacher Valid California Child Development Assistant Teacher Permit, which includes: Option 1: Six (6) semester units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development Option 2: Accredited HERO Program (including ROP) -OR- Associate Teacher Valid California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit, which includes: Option 1: Twelve (12) semester units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development (including the 3 core areas: 1) Child/Human Growth & Development; 2) Child/Family/Community or Child and Family Relations; and, 3) Programs/Curriculum); and have worked 50 days of 3+ hours per day in last two (2) years. Option 2: National Child Development Associate (CDA) Cred; and have worked 50 days of 3+ hours per day in last two (2) years And, the candidate must complete fifteen (15) semester units to renew after initial issuance, no further renewals. -OR- Teacher (or higher) Valid California Child Development Teacher Permit, which includes: Option 1: Twenty-four (24) semester units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development (including the 3 core areas: 1) Child/Human Growth & Development; 2) Child/Family/Community or Child and Family Relations; and, 3) Programs/Curriculum); Sixteen (16) semester units in general education (including English, Social Science, Math or Science, and Humanities); and have worked 175 days of 3+ hours per day in last four (4) years. Option 2: Associate or higher degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development; and three (3) semester units supervised field experience
