Job Summary

Job Summary

The teacher working under the direction of the Program Manager is responsible for coordinating the transition class for moderate to severe handicapped students ages 18-22. The teacher provides support to students both at school and at job sites. The teacher instructs/trains disabled students through direct instruction and modeling behavior, and adjusts, individualizes and adapts educational programs to help students become as independent as possible. The teacher implements adopted curriculum, develops additional meaningful curriculum and provides instruction in the areas of independent living, career education, leisure/recreation, and functional academics. Working closely with other specialists and classroom assistants, the teacher coordinates post-secondary transition activities with an emphasis on transition planning, independent living, recreation/leisure, career education/job development.
