Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Superintendent, the role of the Principal is to support student achievement through effective instructional, organizational, and administrative leadership. The Principal of the school will assume full responsibility for all aspects of a 6th through 8th grade school site; assist in the development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of the school site programs and procedures; serve as a member of Management and other duties as may be assigned. This position reports to the Superintendent.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Experience: Possession of the following credentials: -A valid California Administrative Services Credential -A valid California Teaching credential -Valid California Driver’s License -Minimum five years of successful teaching experience required -Minimum 3-5 years of administrative experience required -M.A. /M.S. or higher from an accredited college or university in Educational Administration, Curriculum and Instruction or a closely-related field required -English Learner (EL) Certification OR the commitment to obtain an EL Certification within two (2) years of hire date. -Experience working within a charter school is highly preferred. -Bilingual in Spanish/English is highly preferred.

Employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 7:30 am to 4:30 pm and must work forty (40) hours each week to maintain full-time status. Work is generally performed during regular work hours, however may require extended evenings and/or weekend hours for extra-curricular events, special programs and school site operations or urgent issues. Willingness to attend and actively participate in school-related events outside of regular school hours, including athletic events, Back-to-School Night, Coffee with the Principal, Open House, and other community engagement activities.
