San Luis Coastal USD is looking for an Accounting Technician to perform a variety of complex, responsible, and specialized financial work for our Fiscal Services Department. The eligibility list created from this recruitment may also be used to fill other vacancies in the District that occur for this classification over a six-month period. Qualified candidates will have experience in the maintenance of financial/statistical records, AR/AP and/or purchasing functions, preferably in a school district, as well as the equivalent of two years college with course work in accounting or business administration. To pass screening for Minimum Qualifications, candidates must possess the basic skills and experience outlined in the job description, and must submit the required documents (listed below).
- Copy of Transcript (Transcript showing completion of two years of college course work. If you do not have a transcript, please attach a summary of your equivalent experience.)
- Letter of Introduction (Optional)
- Letter(s) of Recommendation (At least 1 signed letter from a professional reference (preferably drafted within the past two years, and on letterhead))
- Resume (A current resume with dates of employment at each job.)

PURPOSE: To establish an open eligibility list for vacancies that may occur in this classification over a six month period. Fingerprint and tuberculosis clearances will be required prior to start date.
TEST INFORMATION: ALL APPLICANTS MUST TAKE THE WRITTEN EXAM.
A) Candidates must pass application screening with minimum qualifications. Passing applicants will be invited to take the written examination, scheduled for May 9, 2025.
B) 40% - The written examination covering job related skills, knowledge, and abilities required will account for 40% of candidates' final score. Candidates who pass the written exam with a minimum score of 70% may be invited to oral board assessment, scheduled for the same date as the exam, May 9, 2025.
C) 60% - An oral interview covering personal qualifications, experience, and training will account for 60% of candidates' final score. Candidates must also pass this step with 70 or higher.
Candidates who pass the exam and oral board assessment will be added to an eligibility list, and the top three ranks will be invited to hiring interviews, date TBD.
SPECIAL NOTES: 1) Correctly filling out forms and following other instructions contained in this notice are part of the testing process. 2) Applicants with disabilities need to notify the Human Resources Office of any special needs so that adequate preparation may be made for their testing. 3) Veterans qualifying for the oral board examination may receive 5 additional points added to their final score if proof of discharge is submitted at time of oral board interview. A "veteran" as used here means any person who served in the United States armed forces or National Guard in time of war or national emergency. 4) Eligibility lists are established for a period of six months.
