Now Hiring: Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) – Arts & Music Education Alternative Education Division (ACCESS & Connections Programs) Are you passionate about teaching arts and music while supporting students who thrive in non-traditional learning environments? Join our mission-driven team at the Orange County Department of Education as a TOSA – Arts & Music Education within the Alternative Education Division (ACCESS). Our Alternative Education Division provides educational options to diverse student populations referred by local school districts, probation, and social services. We are currently recruiting for talented professional to serve as an Art and Music Teacher for our ACCESS Division to plan and provide instruction to individuals in an Art and Music program. Examples of teaching assignment include using seat time or independent study instructional models to provide art and music education to at-promise students in Community Based Programs (CBP), including charter schools primarily serving students between the ages of 18 and 26; delivery of educational services to incarcerated youth in Institutions who are going through the juvenile justice system; and offering educational support through the Community Home Education Program (CHEP) or Pacific Coast High School (PCHS) to families who choose to provide direct instruction to their child in the home or outside the traditional district school model.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Training Guidelines: Any combination of education, training, and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way of obtaining the knowledge and abilities would be: • Bachelor or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university. • Recent experience working in alternative educational settings or charter schools teaching at-promise students preferred. Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements: • Valid Single Subject or Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. • English Learner (EL) Authorization: Must possess an authorization to provide instruction for English language development (ELD) and specially designed academic instruction delivered in English (SDAIE) to English learners. Appropriate credentials include a Single Subject Teaching Credential with English learner authorization; CLAD (Crosscultural, Language and Academic Development) or BCLAD (Bilingual Crosscultural, Language and Academic Development) authorizations; or Certificate of Completion of Staff Development (AB2913/SB395 training). • Meet the Basic Skills Requirement through one of the methods listed on Form CL-667 on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing website - www.ctc.ca.gov. **Preference will be given to fully credentialed teachers.**
