Job Summary
The Teacher on Special Assignment as Reading Specialist supports an academic intervention instructional program and provides related educational services, assisting with the accelerated achievement of under-performing students. This position provides support to intervention teachers and administrators in the implementation of direct instruction and differentiation, assists with the implementation and follow-up of the annual K-2 reading screener, provides professional development for teachers, and supports teachers and administrators in identifying and implementing appropriate interventions.
Requirements / Qualifications
Valid Reading Specialist Credential (preferred)
Submit the following with a completed Edjoin application: 1. Resume 2. 3 Current signed letters of recommendation 3. CBEST verification or proof of proficiency in necessary college coursework by earning a B or higher 4. Transcripts (official or unofficial) 5. Copy of Credential OR Letter from the College with the anticipated completion date, if applicable 6. Letter of Interest 7. Proof of CLAD or other EL Authorization *Internal applicants only need to apply with a letter of interest and appropriate credential* (Substitutes are not considered Internal applicants).

Per OTA and OJUSD Collective Bargaining Agreement:
*31.29 Academic coaches (Reading Specialist) shall be treated as if they taught six (6) periods daily.
OJUSD accepts fourteen (14) years of previous, verified, full-time, fully-credentialed years of experience for placement on the certificated salary schedule.
The District shall provide an annual contribution for Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance. If the selected health and welfare coverage costs less than the district's maximum contribution, the employee may select to cash-out the difference in cost.
Family Plan = $7,210 annually
Single OR Employee +1 = $6,458.00 annually
The Fringe Benefit amount is NOT included in the annual salary indicated on the certificated salary schedule.
