Provides diagnostic, prescriptive services to students referred to the Special Education Department. Provides therapeutic services via DIS counseling as designated by Individualized Education Programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

State certification to perform psychological services in California with a Designated Services Credential in Pupil Personnel Credential with a Psychologist authorization.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Serves as a member of the Individualized Education Program team to share assessment information and assists in the development of goals and objectives for students in regular and special school programs. E

2. Works with Individualized Education Program & Student Study Team members as needed to assist in the development and implementation of classroom methods and procedures designed to improve learning and behavior disorders. E

3. Assists in the identification of students with exceptional needs and provides appropriate psychological services. E

4. Re-evaluates students as needed to determine appropriateness of placement and to ascertain progress. E

5. Provides student counseling when appropriate. E

6. Provides inservice training to parents and employees of the district in such areas as parent education, behavior management and the interpretation of test data.

7. Serves as a liaison and consultant to members of the school staff and appropriate agencies.

8. Assists teachers in interpreting standardized test scores. E

9. Assists with the development of the Assessment Plan and assists school site staff as needed with acquiring parent signature(s). E

10. Prepares written reports of the assessments administered. E

11. Serves on crisis intervention teams as needed.

12. Performs other related duties as assigned.
