HBCSD is currently comprised of three school sites, Hermosa View, Hermosa Vista, and Hermosa Valley School. Job Summary
Job Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director of Administrative Services, the Coordinator of Special Education supports the implementation of the District’s special education services in compliance with state and federal mandates. This role provides leadership in planning, developing, and evaluating programs, delivering staff training, offering behavioral and inclusion support, and participating in SELPA meetings. The Coordinator works collaboratively with school sites, families, and community partners to support positive student outcomes. The Coordinator also supervises assigned personnel and ensures effective service delivery. Success in this role requires current expertise in special education, strong instructional knowledge, and the ability to make impactful decisions that support program goals and district operations. Additionally, the Coordinator works to ensure equitable access to services and interventions for unduplicated students, including English Learners, foster youth, and low-income students.

We have a friendly, collaborative staff. Professional development is an important part of our certificated staff culture. Our parents are very active and supportive of their students and the schools.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree required. Master’s degree or above in educational administration from an accredited institution, preferred. Have a minimum of three years of full-time teaching or special educated related services experience in a special education program. Have at least two years’ experience in a lead position that demonstrated leadership ability and knowledge/experience in increasingly responsible roles in curriculum, staff development, and instruction with an emphasis on working with special needs students.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Valid California Administrative Services Credential
Valid teaching credential in special education or other related services credential
Valid California driver's license and proof of current automobile insurability
Maintain a valid TB skin test on file at the District Office
Compensation & Benefits
• 10 sick days per year
• $9,550 toward health benefits
• Annual master's stipend: $750 or doctorate stipend: $1,500
• Participation in CalSTRS retirement plan
