Elverta Joint Elementary School District is a small K - 8 district that has approx. 230 students. We are located in rural Sacramento County. The best fit for this position is a person who is a self-starter, team player, with an ability to work through issues, and is positive in their approach towards their job. Desired experience includes: Payroll and Human Resource experience, working within a team, and supporting the school staff and district administration. Experience with QCC/QSS a plus. We are looking for someone who can balance the weekly needs of payroll, while working with the district staff on all matters pertaining to Human Resources and other duties as needed in a small school district. Requirements / Qualifications
Education, Training, and Experience Any combination of education, training, and/or experience equivalent to an Associate of Arts degree which demonstrates ability to perform the duties as described, including courses in accounting, business procedures, math, statistics or related subjects; payroll processing (QCC/QSS) and benefits experience in school district or a public agency preferred.
2 Letters of Recommendation preferred. 3 Professional References via phone or email. AA degree or above preferred. Live Scan and TB test will be required upon hiring.

Payroll/Benefits
Performs a variety of complex accounting duties in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of payroll,
salary, and benefit calculations; collects, analyzes, updates, and reconciles payroll and
benefit data on a monthly basis; reviews attendance accounting for days/hours worked, and calculates and
records salary adjustments as necessary; examines and verifies payroll, benefit, leave, and documentation; reconciles and balances payroll
contribution ledgers for retirement, payroll taxes, and confirms monthly estimate and final payments to the California Public
Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) and California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS); researches, analyzes, and identifies discrepancies and reporting errors and processes
appropriate corrections; ensures the accuracy of payroll, retirement, and benefit codes and allocations;
researches and processes payroll, and benefit adjustment entries; calculates and applies garnishment
deduction orders; researches, calculates, and prepares payments for various benefit vendors, tax sheltered
annuities (TSAs), and state/federal agencies; reviews, reconciles, and balances payroll and benefit data for
monthly and variable payrolls; processes monthly deposits for retirees enrolled in health benefits; processes deferred compensation retirement plans; assists in
coordinating annual open enrollment process including benefits fair; verifies and processes classified sick
leave incentive payments; prepares supplemental payrolls as needed; prepares and processes manual
warrants; reviews, analyzes and updates salary and benefit projections for accuracy; calculates retroactive
salary data as assigned; works closely with district auditors; bank deposits and works with ASB funds; attends workshops and trainings as directed.
Employee/Human Resources
Creates and maintains the personnel files for all classified and certificated employees ensuring
appropriate documents regarding employment matters are complete, scanned, and filed in a timely manner;
maintains security and confidentiality of employment and testing files; remains current regarding any
personnel policy changes; notifies employees of continuing employment requirements, such as credential
or license renewal and necessary medical exams; reviews transcripts to determine salary placement and
eligibility for related stipends; implements changes in employee status; calculates salaries; verifies work
profiles, and administers the longevity and anniversary programs; generates routine and specialized reports
related to employee data; updates and maintains information related to individual employees, including but
not limited to demographics, evaluations, clearances, credentials;
processes transfers, leaves, reinstatements, reemployments, resignations, and retirements; implements
collective bargaining agreements related to personnel functions, including but not limited to tuition
reimbursement, continuing education, salary placement, and various stipends.
