Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Principal and the Athletic Director, assumes overall responsibility for the junior varsity and varsity teams. Duties include, but are not limited to: tryouts and selection of teams, conditioning, supervision of practices and games. Works with principal and athletic director on staffing of assistant positions. Some background in coaching is desirable. Ability to achieve the confidence and respect of students, make decisions and judgments. One or more years of paid or volunteer experience providing leadership in organized youth activities/sports. Knowledge of care and prevention of athletic injuries, coaching techniques, rules and regulations of activities, and adolescent psychology. Must have the ability to bend, stoop, grasp, and reach. May be required to stand for prolonged periods on hard surfaces and work outdoors in weather of varying temperatures and conditions. Possible P.E teacher position at MEHS.

Requirements / Qualifications

Must have completed California Interscholastic Federation Coaching Certification Process and verification of NFHS Concussion in Sports Course. Possession of a valid California driver’s license, First Aid and CPR certification are required. ANY OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT IS SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK ($52.00 payable by applicant), A PRE-PLACEMENT MEDICAL EXAMINATION, INCLUDING DRUG SCREENING (at District expense), AND A NEGATIVE TUBERCULOSIS TEST.
