POSITION:
Adult Education Teacher: Adult Education/ESL, High School Equivalency Exam Prep, Citizenship Preparation*
*We are currently building an eligibility pool for teachers for adult education in the three areas listed below. These courses may be offered either in the morning during the regular school day or in the evening. Courses in ESL and High School Equivalency Exam Preparation will begin August 2016.
* Adult Education/ESL: Students develop language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) in the context of real-life situations/occupations. This also focuses on skills or competencies that students need to succeed in both an academic program and occupational setting. Students develop content-related vocabulary and study skills, such as taking notes, outlining, using the dictionary and library, and taking tests, speaking, listening, and writing.
* High School Equivalency Exam Preparation: This course is designed to help strengthen academic skills necessary to pass the HiSet High School Equivalency Exam. Content area knowledge includes Math, Language Arts (Reading & Writing), Science, and Social Studies.
* Citizenship Preparation: This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of and preparation for the naturalization test and interview.
Each class section will likely meet twice weekly. Paid planning time without students will be included weekly.

ESL Credential Requirements: Applicant must possess a valid California Teaching Credential with EL authorization
High School Equivalency Preparation Requirements: Multiple Subject Credential, Single Subject Credential, or Adult Education Designation Subjects Credential with Elementary and Secondary Basics Skills (ESBS) authorization |
