Job Summary

Job Summary

The Visual and Performing Arts Specialist is directly responsible to the Director of Curriculum, Learning Support Services, and provides oversight and support for the implementation of the Poway Unified School District’s Strategic Arts Plan; developing, directing, monitoring, and promoting our Visual and Performing Arts programs; and serving as a liaison between the District and community partnerships to maximize participation in the Arts.

Requirements / Qualifications

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS: KNOWLEDGE of State VAPA Content Standards, instructional strategies and methodologies, school operations; and local, state and national resources for supporting arts education. Applicable education laws including Board of Education policies and procedures. Demonstrated success in leadership and visionary work, project management skills, program review, student learning outcomes and service area evaluation processes. ABILITY to design and implement effective visual and performing arts programs and professional development, research and analyze data for use in improvement efforts and reporting in order to meet federal and state requirements; serve as a liaison between educators and diverse community groups, exercise interpersonal communication skills when interacting with stakeholders; promote a passion for education in the arts, maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively both orally and in writing. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS: Possession of a valid California Designated Subjects credential or related California teaching credential. Any combination of advanced training equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Visual or Performing Arts. Three or more years of successful teaching experience or equivalent professional experience related to the position.

REQUIRED MATERIALS: • Letter of Introduction • Resume • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation signed within the last 12 months (One (1) should come from an immediate supervising administrator).
