Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Director of Student Services, the School Psychologist collaborates with other staff at the California School for the Blind (CSB) to conduct assessments and provide educational recommendations for visually impaired, blind, and deafblind students attending CSB. The School Psychologist assists students, staff, and families address psycho-social, behavioral, developmental, and educational issues through individual and group social/emotional support, consultation, data collection, behavior support plans, crisis intervention, and community agency linkages, and trainings. The School Psychologist maintains confidentiality and compliance with professional, legal, and ethical standards at all times. This position will be a Limited Term position for 12 months and may become permanent.
Requirements / Qualifications
Required Qualifications Applicant must possess the following: o Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in School Psychology from a NASP-accredited program o Pupil Personnel Services Credential with School Psychology Authorization o At least two years of experience working as a school psychologist or other related field Desired Qualifications • Experience working with students with visual impairments, deafblind students, and/or students with moderate/severe disabilities • Experience providing counseling to students with disabilities • Experience writing Behavior Support Plans • Spanish-speaking preferred but not necessary Additional Qualities • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise good judgment and work both independently and as a part of a team • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to develop and maintain good rapport with staff, students, and families • Excellent writing skills essential Please refer to Duty Statement for further information related to job expectations.
